Quality Engineer

£25000 - £28000 plus benefits including 23 days holiday + BH + close for Christmas, pension, parking

A specialist manufacturer is seeking a hands-on Quality Engineer to work closely with the Quality manager to ensure that quality management systems are in place and ISO9001 and OHSAS18001 standards are met, exceeding customer expectations.

Duties will include:

• Goods inward inspection of raw materials and purchased parts.
• First Article Inspections and Reports PFMEA.
• Facilitate and lead 8D improvement process using a variety of Quality and Continuous Process Improvement tools.
• Handling of customer returns.
• Monitoring of supplier's product quality to ensure robust and timely problem solving activity takes place for supplier concerns.
• Identify and record any problems relating to the product, process and quality system.
• Carry out internal Quality audits, producing reports on findings.
• Preparation and issue of Quality Management System Documentation.
• Produce regular Quality and Health & Safety status reports.
• Coordinate calibration of internal instruments in required time frame and update internal calibration system.
• Up to 30% of time will involve handling of customer returns, goods inspection, product testing.
• Occasional supplier visits

Person specification:

Essential Skills

• Awareness of quality - should have worked in a Quality Environment for a minimum of 3 years or have good understanding of current Company systems and their application.
• Trained Auditor, Trained in use of Quality Tools.
• Must be computer literate (word processing, spreadsheets, drawings and databases).
• Analytical & Problem Solving skills
• Report writing MS Office - intermediate/advanced user

Desired skills

• Previous experience ideally in quality function within manufacturing environment.
