As a Senior VAT Analyst in Maastricht, you'll be representing one the biggest and most recognised brands in the world. In fact, it's more than likely you've seen this company dotted around at some point today. And as they look to broaden their indirect tax reach, you'll be joining just in time to prepare for some big global projects!

In a business that operates in over 200 countries and employ over a half a million staff! you'll be working amongst an international team of tax and finance specialists which, in turn, is part of a much broader global matrix outside of the Maastricht site.

About the Role

Your responsibility (and chance to impact the business) will be to oversee the VAT compliance function across the business's European entities, whilst supporting and reviewing the work of junior colleagues. Equally as important, you'll also be adding significant value to the team by collaborating with with senior colleagues on audits, global indirect tax projects, and the rollout of a new VAT reporting tool.

And rest assured, you will not turn up on Day 1 to find yourself pigeon-holed to filing VAT returns for one or two countries. This is a true European VAT role, soon to be globally focused. Instead, you'll be trained to work across the entire European market, creating an excellent platform to go on and work on other international projects.

You'll also benefit from a much more engaging experience in this particular environment compared to those that tax teams of similar sized businesses can offer. Why? Despite being a part of a huge global structure, it's a small team in Maastricht which means you'll be able to enjoy the 'close-knit' and collaborative culture whilst still representing a multi-billion dollar business.

About You

  • A minimum of 2 years European VAT experience (industry, professional services, or tax authorities)

  • A strong working knowledge of VAT compliance (ie. preparing returns, intrastat, and ECSL) - the more countries you've worked with, the better!

  • You'll be somebody who is always keen to learn more and do more. Your next steps in the business are already there once you've developed

  • Experience with ERP systems or tax reporting software is desirable

  • Good analytical skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines

Opportunities to join companies of this size and magnitude do not come around often, let alone in a role that offers so much exposure at this level!
