West Dean College of Arts and Conservation is seeking an experienced and inspiring Subject Tutor in Garden Design to join our dynamic School of Design, based at our new Bloomsbury campus.
This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a highly respected specialist institution that combines academic excellence with hands-on, practice-based learning. You will play a key role in shaping the next generation of garden designers through studio-based teaching, assessment, and student support, as well as contributing to the development of our innovative curriculum.
Plan, coordinate and deliver engaging teaching across our Garden Design programmes.
Support students’ learning and development through tutorials, feedback, and guidance.
Maintain and update learning resources via our Virtual Learning Environment.
Contribute to programme development, quality assurance, and student recruitment activities.
Collaborate with visiting lecturers, industry professionals and course teams to enhance curriculum relevance and graduate employability.
A degree in Garden Design or a closely related discipline.
Significant professional and teaching experience within the garden design sector.
Strong knowledge of garden design theory, practice, and specialist techniques.
Confidence using SketchUp, Vectorworks, Adobe Creative Suite, and MS Office.
A collaborative, student-centred approach and excellent communication skills.
A PgCert in Higher Education or Fellowship of the HEA.
Membership of relevant professional bodies such as BIID, SBID, or RIBA.
