Role Overview:
As a Relief Support Worker at the Aldingbourne Trust, you will play a vital role in empowering individuals with learning disabilities and/or autism to live fulfilling, independent lives. You’ll provide person-centered support at our Jasmine Lodge project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build trusting relationships with individuals to understand their goals, preferences, and needs.
- Support individuals with daily living tasks such as cooking, cleaning, some personal care, and medication support
- Encourage and facilitate participation in social, educational, and recreational activities.
- Promote independence and choice in all aspects of life.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to care planning.
- Communicate effectively with families, colleagues, and external professionals.
- Uphold safeguarding and health & safety standards at all times.
Requirements:
- A genuine passion for supporting people with learning disabilities and autism.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
- Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends.
- Experience in a care or support role is desirable but not essential.
- A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care) is an advantage.
- Willingness to undertake training and continuous professional development.
