If you're looking for a new venture - and the idea of working for an internationally recognised insurance firm - then please read on to learn more.

Whether you have a background in indirect tax, especially IPT (insurance premium tax) or VAT, then herein lies the opportunity to work in the heart of the bustling city of London. Being an insurance company that has been a member of Lloyd's of London for 20 plus years, it goes without saying that there is the reputation to match.

In-house positions are often alluring for a VAT professional, and whether you come from an industry or practice background, this role would paint a great step in your indirect tax career.

Why IPT?

Indirect tax is well known as a lucrative sector, as a natural byproduct of how specialist it can be. With this role, you can delve deeper by gaining allusive experience in what is the world of IPT. Admittedly, IPT is often brushed over in various tax qualifications and perhaps played a small role in a current or past position but a IPT specialist of today would find their skills high in demand and open to the most interesting roles such as this one.

What makes this stand out?

You'd be joining a small but growing team, connecting with other tax professionals across the globe. Exciting business ventures have accelerated the growth of the tax division and would leave you perfectly poised to develop your VAT / IPT career at a rate you would not find in most other tax departments.

There are of course multiple reasons why you might be scoping out the market, whether it be a lack of interest in your current role, or even that you feel that you're not feeling appreciated for the skills you contribute. What can be vouched for, is that this position offers benefits and a culture that would make these viable issues, almost inconceivable. This is made clear by the fact that if you're located outside of London, there is the possibility of flexible working, or even the simple pleasure of having spacious, modern offices (featured in a very well-known Disney film).

What we're looking for

If you're the sort of person that would want to hit the ground running and showcase your technical skills, then great, as you'll be a point of call for colleagues around the world that have technical indirect tax issues that need to be explain / solved.

Most importantly, as you'll be in a close-knit team, it is required that you have the drive and enthusiasm needed to help stimulate growth. This is a company that invests in its staff, evidenced especially by the fact that they're willing to fund various finance / tax qualifications. This leaves a broad brush in what level of experience you have. Whether you have 2 years or 7 years, this could potentially be for you.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation and filing of both UK a pan European indirect tax returns when required
  • Oversee indirect tax entries in the P&L and balance sheets of the UK branches and companies
  • Regular assessments and improvements on processes and controls to optimise compliance efficiency
  • Liaise with tax authorities across multiple jurisdictions and monitor the group's indirect tax position, whilst demonstrating compliance with local laws
  • Effective communication with external auditors and stakeholders in relation to indirect tax issues
  • Assist and contribute to VAT/IPT projects whilst offering advice and ad-hoc research to the business

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of indirect tax experience (VAT or IPT related)
  • Highly adept data analysis and data extract skills
  • Financial service experience would be preferred but not essential
  • A significant willingness to learn (full support for accounting and tax related qualifications given)
  • May require occasional travel
