Despite the job market currently looking rather promising since the financial crisis, there are still cities across the country where it's much easier to find a job.

According to recent statistics, if you live in the North it's generally much harder to find a job with many more jobseekers applying for every vacancy, and therefore the competition is much higher. Sunderland is currently the worst place to be a job seeker, closely followed by Hull; there are just too many people applying for every one job.

Down South there appears to be far less competition for jobs, perhaps because there are more on offer and therefore fewer job applicants for each individual role.

Statistically Cambridge came out on top as the easiest city in which to find a job. Guildford and Reading also placed towards the top of the table as easier cities to find a job. Many major businesses, particularity in IT, choose to have their Head Offices in Reading as it's much cheaper than London with excellent transport links into the capital city. 

The statistics once again highlight the need for an economic drive in the North, to boost the job markets outside of London and the South of the UK, and provide a skilled workforce across the whole of the country.
